- Watercraft on Highland Lake must not be over 21 feet in length with the exception of pontoon boats, which may be up to 28 feet in length.
- Airboats of any type that use aircraft propellers for propulsion are prohibited.
- Hydroplanes or racing boats are prohibited unless it is a Town approved event.
- Engine size shall not exceed the recommended horsepower as provided by the manufacturer and as it is indicted on the US Coast Guard Capacity Plate.
- No one shall operate a power boat at any speed as to cause excessive wake in fishing areas or other restricted areas as designated and marked.
- Watercraft registration fees are paid annually during the month of May. The cost is $25.00 per motorized watercraft per year. Boat decals should be purchased after the Annual Lake Use Fee has been paid.
- Property owners of Highland Lake may purchase up to four (4) decals for motorized watercraft per year per family. There is a four-watercraft limit per permit holder for property owners within the town limits of Highland Lake.
- The purchaser provides a copy of the state registration certificate for each watercraft requiring a decal.
- Watercraft identification decals for Highland Lake are displayed on the watercraft in the area adjacent to the state registration numbers and are clearly visible at all times. The identification decals are not transferable.
- Individuals found guilty of reckless operation of a vessel will be punished as follows:
- First conviction - $150.00 fine
- Second conviction - $250.00 fine plus one year suspension of lake use permit
- Third conviction - $500.00 fine plus the permanent revocation of lake use permit
